Potomac Exiles Win Battle of Undefeated Clubs over Baltimore

In their third straight road match against last season’s MAC playoff teams, the Potomac Exiles took on Baltimore-Chesapeake in a hard-hitting matchup featuring two clubs coming off big wins.

The Brumbies struck first with a penalty kick at the 13th minute, but it took only three minutes for the Exiles to respond with a PK of their own from scrum half Matt Quigley. After surrendering possession for much of the first 20 minutes, Potomac got back to the game plan and was rewarded with a try from hooker Jason “Dutch” Vanterpool for the 8-3 lead.

Baltimore’s fly half struck again at the 30th minute to close the gap to 8-6, and the score held heading into the halftime break. A man down following a yellow card, the Exiles surrendered the lead at the 47th minute with a try from the Baltimore eight-man.

After 15 back-and-forth minutes, the visitors would regain the lead with a try from Captain Ben Wiedemer, and fly half Toshi Palamo converted for the 15-11 Exiles’ lead. With just two minutes to go, Palamo hit eight-man Alex Diegel with a great inside ball, who dove across the try line to seal the Exiles’ win. Palamao would again convert for the game’s final score, 22-11.

The Killer Bs kept Potomac’s undefeated streak going with a hard-fought win over Baltimore’s second side. Highlights included two tries from fly half J’Son Townes (including one about 30 seconds in) and numerous hard tackles from flanker Enzo Chiarello.
